Rachel (the C&J Club President) and I (the secretary) made that. :] We're still in the process of trying to come up with a nice background. I'm
glad you like it though. Rachel did a good job on that montage.

And on the new one. I did email Rachel about the background, as I thought it was a tad busy, and the new one is a smidge better, but as you say, could be
improved. Maybe just de-satting it down to 10%? I'm also not entirely convinced with so much being in red, it's such an in-yer-face colour, whereas
the montages and the songs are anything but agressive, and it doesn't quite seem to mesh. You want to be positive, and not have anything mimsy, but it
does come at you off the screen and almost pushes everything else into the background. As the site is still in beta mode, could you play around with that as
well? Meant in the spirit of constructive criticism, from someone long (some would say too long!) in the business.

That's what I thought. I'm thinking about making a very simple black and white background with some bright accent colors. How does that sound? :]

Sounds good. Don't know how much control you have over the intensity of the colours, but even perhaps dark grey/white rather than ultra-high-contrast
black and white - rather depends on what the design is. Do you mean b&w photos, i.e. shades of grey? That would work well. You do want to catch - and
keep - the eye, but it's the on-site videos, links to the other videos, subscriptions etc. that are the important things, they're the ones that need to
be brought forward. Mind you, they're also part of the problem, because they're separate chunks, rather than an altogether whole. But I guess
there's not a lot you can do about that. The background has to be the link, without taking over. Who'd be a graphic designer, eh?

I actually decided to go with dark pastels. It's all up now, tell me what you think. :]

Yes, it looks great - and different, so should well catch the eye and lead it to the items people are interested in. And it definitely suits their style.
Sorry this reply is so late, Google (and I think Yuku is part of that empire) was playing up yesterday, everything was jamming. You probably heard the
language across the ocean!
