Back in 66, at age 11, I saved all my summer berry picking earnings to buy my first record player and a handful of LP records. Amoungst them were Dylan's highway 61 revisted and Chad & Jeremy's sing for you & yesterday's gone. I still have those records and followed their music and careers as a fan up thru cabbages and the ark. 'got the CS/JC album some years later for zanzibar and then lost track. Bumping into the website has had me going back thru and savoring all those fine songs and melodies pretty much non-stop for several days in a row now. Just wonderful ! but I'm afraid that my teenage acne is coming back, I'm developing a stutter in front of women(particularly bothersome to my wife,btw) and my heart is broken. I am the last generation of Towhead kids in Tx who were lucky to picked cotton in 110 F. At least that is what our parents told us! I only made enough to buy one 45 record. I am probably going to see them in Vegas this year because they are performing with Peter and Gordon... I still have a thing for guys with horn rim glasses. What can I say? THINK being out in the field most my childhood in over 100 degrees F, did something to my brain development? Whether it did or not... I am having a great time seeing both Chad and Jeremy return to their greatness as well as Peter and Gordon among others.. Life is Good.

" I'm sure that some sort of parental match funding was involved- the stereo was this huge suitcase GE stacking record changer thingie with the fold out speakers- iirc,it cost nearly $50 at the ft lewis post exchange and at $5cents a flat I'd have been out in the fields for several years.I remember clearly that I had to start just at daybreak because by midday the heat would cause the berries to smoosh flat- the more you picked, the lower the level of berries in their boxes. what it taught me was not to get into farming. btw- that was a typo above but i couldn't edit my post- summer of 1965 best, k

I did the picking for my relatives..we lived in town, but not spared the work to help them. My husband's family were quarter horse ranchers... after my husbands father had him repair barbed wire in the harshest winter days.. my husband also decided not to go into ranching or farming.. The green acres country life can be overrated If anything it gives you incentive as a kid. However we also did Dewberry picking, mustang grapes for homemade wine and peppers for hot sauce.. You learn quickly not to rub your eyes and a pale of water with one ladel under a tree for refreshements.. We were replaced by cotton picken machines... kids on ranches and farms today are way overweight... everything is mechanical and air conditioned. As Harpo Marx said about "being on the road"... Anyone who claims to have done hard work like that and said it was the good old days, never did the work. although fishing and swimming in the creeks and ponds were great forms of pass time. Lucky our town had a small pool. Water moccasin are no fun. but I still go horsebacking riding whenever I can when i travel.. I do in UK and France and Hawaii and just about anywhere I travel. going to ICeland in 2009 and will try those icelandic horses. this Towhead is now a Greyhead. I don't do pickin anymore... unless I play the guitar once in a blue moon. Oh well.. Vegas it will be to see C & J and P &G.. and hopefully cirque Solleil.

I love the show and movie... my husband is a trekkie wanna be. a guy from my HS who had the hots for me was a major Trekkie author of MORe thAN everything you wanted to know about star trek . He was a major trekie expert , author and author.. passed away 3 yrs ago. So the star trek museum is out. My list... Blue Man group......Cirque Soleil LOVE about the Beatles.. Hey if we are doing british invasion in vegas why not add cirque soleil's LOVE. Adds to my travel theme to Vegas I need to see Spama lot.. I will add that.... I saw Momma Mia in London Lets add Mysterie ...Cirque soleil... will do the VIP tickets.. I will skip Jay white doing Neil Diamond music... I am seeing Neil Diamond in UK... I say ...see the originals...Always if you have a choice. Cirque soleil again "O" I think I will have a cirque soileil week there.. get it out of my system.... stomp would be great I love tap dancers... but I can see them in my home town along with the Blue men. so I will leave that for another time here. zumity by Cirque soleil.. I think this sums it up with the following C & J and P & G, Cirque soleil's O and LOVE... VIP seating if they have ti...2 is enough or I will be short cirqued out... Thorw in SPAM A LOT.. I keep missing it in London and NYC.. Tour of Hoover Dam (maybe) I wonder if they have ballooning in the desert? well that should do it.. how does that sound to you Elizabeth?

Like the trekkies wear spock ears , I may wear horn rim glasses Ooops the girls did not wear those... so that is out. the girls wore the pointy cat eyes type... I don't want to go that far...

They had clear lenses as not to hurt my eyes. I wish I had gotten them now. I think you should wear horned rimmed glasses and cat eyes anyway. After all what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.
